The elegant Abberley Comport features a design incorporating eight beautiful hand-painted roses. At the centre is the majestic Queen Elizabeth II floribunda rose, with its rich, pink petals, named after The Queen and considered to be one of the finest of all roses. Around it, seven other roses of various colours and shades celebrate the seven decades that have so far been part of the modern Elizabethan era.
The rich pink Princess Anne rose celebrates the birth in 1950 of The Queen’s daughter, while alongside it the yellow Canada Rose celebrates Queen Elizabeth’s close association with and frequent visits to the Dominion of Canada during the 1960s. Continuing clockwise, the white and cream Silver Jubilee Rose marks the celebrations of 1977, the Princess Diana hybrid tea rose honours the royal wedding of 1981, and the darker City of Windsor Rose is a reminder of the recovery of Windsor Castle from the disastrous fire of 1992. Finally, the beautiful bi-coloured double bloom of the Golden Jubilee Rose of 2002 is flanked by the delicate white William and Catherine Rose, named in celebration of the marriage of The Queen’s grandson in 2011.
Together, these eight roses, all painted entirely by hand, combine to form a wonderful and evocative floral display in colours that, unlike the flowers themselves, will never fade. The Abberley Comport is a limited edition of just 25 pieces and comes in a hand-made, silk-lined presentation box.
