Bronte’s dedicated team of artists, craftspeople and ceramic experts between them represent a tremendous resource of knowledge regarding the creation and care of ceramic items. In the years since the Company was established, we have developed a reputation amongst auctioneers and museums as one of the first points of contact when a cherished piece of china needs repair or restoration.
There is an art to repairing fine bone china, and knowing how an item was made and decorated helps Bronte’s specialists understand how best to repair or renovate it both effectively and sympathetically.
There are many different ways to repair damage, and it is important to us to ensure that the method chosen is the right one for the owner of the piece. Repair and restoration can of course affect the value of an item, and your decision as to what action to take may depend upon what you intend to do with the piece once it has been repaired. Rest assured that we will work closely with you to ensure that the work completed meets your requirements; from the near invisible mending of a crack to the reconstruction of a broken vase or sculpture.
If you have a piece of ceramic art that is damaged or broken, then we will do our very best to put it right. Contact us and, if you can’t bring the item into our studios in Malvern, please send us some clear photographs of the piece and especially the damaged area. We will then let you know whether we think it is possible – or advisable – to repair it, and provide you with an estimate of the cost.
