Charles Darwin

This strong representation of Charles Darwin was produced in the double anniversary year of 2009. It being both the 150th anniversary of the publication of ''Of the Origin of Species''and the 200th anniversary of his birth.

The delicate sculpting and fine hand painting features Darwin examining an ammonite in his left hand and holding a copy of his famous book in the other. His costume, a nineteenth century grey frock coat, maroon flecked doulble breasted waistcoat and pin striped trousers are authentically represented.
