December Girl

December Girl is a traditional little girl of the Victorian era dressed in long coat, bonnet and muff.

Kate Greenaway illustrated many calendars and it was from one of these that inspiration for this piece came.

The strong but subtle painting of the fabric imitates Kate's style in watercolour of the heavy velvets and fur that would have been used in such clothing of Victorian fashion.
